SPOTLIGHT-Laura Jordan
Spotlight: This clerk loves to travel
Laura Jordan is the Deputy Clerk for the Town of Biscoe. Laura has been with the Town of Biscoe since 2011. Before she became Biscoe’s Deputy Clerk, she was an Education Clerk at an at-risk youth wilderness facility, Camp E-Ku-Sumee; where she worked for 11 years.
Laura J. lives in Troy, which is about 10 minutes from the Town of Biscoe. She lives there with her 16 year old son Harley, her boyfriend Joey, and his mom Linda.
Laura J. is affectionately called L.J. because there are two Laura’s at the Town of Biscoe. Family is Laura J.’s number one priority. She loves spending time and traveling with her family. L.J. loves to ride motorcycles and exploring new places.
When asked if she enjoys being a Deputy Clerk, L.J. said she loves working for the Town of Biscoe because of the people…the citizens, the Town Council, the Town Clerk, and all of her other co-workers. Laura Jordan is responsible for Utility Billing, Account Payable, and Senior Bingo. Three years ago, the Town of Biscoe started B.E.S.T – Biscoe Engaging Seniors Today. The 2nd Wednesday of each month, Biscoe has a Senior Activity. The most popular is Bingo. L.J. loves spending time with the seniors. Town Clerk Laura Morton said "Bingo is successful because of L.J. The Seniors love her."
L.J. enjoys learning the ins and outs of the Clerk job and learning from Town Clerk Laura Morton. She is looking forward to the future with the Town of Biscoe and all it has to offer.
Biscoe is a town in Montgomery County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,700 at the 2010 census. The town is named after Henry Biscoe, an important customer of the local lumber business.
