City/County Clerks' School

  1. The program is planned jointly by the SOG and the Municipal and County Clerks' Associations and is usually held in late January. There are usually two and one-half days of educational sessions, a business meeting session, and an MMC Academy. Chairperson may be assigned responsibility for securing speakers for particular sessions.
  2. Municipal and county clerks traditionally rotate the responsibility for providing food and beverages for a hospitality room at Clerks School.  In the even numbered years the Municipal clerks provide beverages and in the odd numbered years the Municipal clerks provide snacks.  At least one member of the committee should plan to be in attendance to open, close and assist the county clerk to staff the hospitality room.  It may be appropriate to ask the Hospitality Subcommittee (see listing under Annual Conference below) to carry out this task.
  3. The School of Government handles the arrangements for classroom set-up, meal functions, registration, mailings, and entertainment.
  4. Special attention should be paid to new clerks at the Clerks School. The program for the school usually includes a special social gathering to welcome new clerks and special training sessions for them.  Members of the committee should take advantage of this opportunity to meet, greet, and welcome new clerks and offer their assistance with educational questions.
