Educational Opportunities
Annual Summer Academy
The NCAMC Annual Summer Academy is traditionally held in early to mid August and includes approximately three days of training and networking opportunities. A Master Municipal Clerk Session is usually offered in conjunction with the Academy. The location of the Academy is rotated among the following three general locations in North Carolina: Western/Mountain, Eastern/Coastal, and Central/Piedmont.

City and County Clerk School
The program is planned jointly by the UNC School of Government and the North Carolina Association of Municipal of Municipal Clerks (NCAMC) and the North Carolina Association of County Clerks. The school is usually held in late January. There are typically two and one-half days of educational sessions, a business meeting session, a Master Municipal Clerk Academy as well as a Special New Clerks Workshop.

Regional Master Municipal Clerk Academies
The Regional Master Municipal Clerk Academies provide an additional training opportunity during the year for those clerks working towards recertification or their Certified or Master Municipal Clerk designations. Academies consist of identical programs offered on a regional basis with at least two sites chosen, one within the combined area of Regions 1 and 2 and the other within the combined area of Regions 3 and 4. However, in some years, as many as 3 or 4 locations may be selected to host an Academy on a regional basis. The Academies are usually held on Fridays if possible any time from late February through early March.

Spring Regional Schools
The purpose of the Regional Schools is to provide convenient, accessible educational opportunities for clerks on a regional basis. The Regional Schools offer identical one day training programs in each of the four regions. Regional Schools are usually held on Fridays if possible any time from late March through April.

North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM) Annual Conference
The NCLM Annual Conference is a three-day event usually held in mid October at a selected location within the state. The Conference offers practical information, detailed training opportunities and an analysis of current legislative issues. In conjunction with the Conference, a NCAMC breakfast is held for municipal clerks attending the conference.

International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) Region III Annual Meeting
IIMC delineates its member states into Regions. North Carolina (NCAMC) is a member of Region III along with Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. The Annual Meeting is hosted by one of these member States on a rotating basis. North Carolina will host the conference in 2011. This conference is usually held in January and consists of two to two and half days of training, activities and events and a business meeting.

International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) Annual Conference
IIMC’s Annual Conference provides a unique and valuable educational experience for the participants ranging from nuts and bolts to advanced level academic subjects facilitated by well-qualified presenters from all around the world. For one week each May, the Conference offers several Advanced Academy Sessions, key speakers for General Sessions, and a variety of concurrent education sessions. The Conference also provides an environment that facilitates networking.

IIMC Certification School (UNC School of Government)
The Clerks' Certification Institute is sponsored by the UNC School of Government and is approved by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC). The School provides an opportunity for clerks to fulfill the educational component of the Certified Municipal Clerk requirements.
